European Maritime Day 2023

Dear Stakeholder,

Firstly, we would like to thank you for your valuable contribution to skills development in the EU.

As you know, 2023 is the European Year of Skills. This Year will provide a unique opportunity to push forward a skills revolution in Europe, making the upskilling and reskilling of all working-age adults the norm.

The official start of the European Year of Skills will be linked to the adoption of a Decision on it by the co-legislators and we hope to be able to launch the official activities as soon as possible. In the meantime, we are preparing the programme of the Year, which will include a wide range of activities and will aim to connect the dots between initiatives and actions at EU, national, regional and local levels. To this end, Member States have also been invited to appoint a national coordinator, responsible for representing a government-wide view, coordinating activities at national and regional levels, and promoting EU level activities on the European Year of Skills.

To achieve real impact, we need a coalition of efforts of stakeholders and labour market actors. Throughout the Year, there will be opportunities to engage in discussions, to learn from each other and to promote your work in the field of skills development. For that, you can find skills-related activities near you by checking the interacting map on the main page of the European Year of Skills website. If you are organising events on skills development in 2023, we encourage you to add them to our interactive ‘Events Map’. Please submit your event through the survey.

We are happy to share with you our official Communication Toolkit for the 2023 European Year of Skills, created to help you prepare your communication activities, events and media relations. The toolkit includes a ready-to-use PowerPoint template, a visual signature in different languages and formats, a picture database and other valuable communication tools.

We aim to regularly inform and engage with interested stakeholders and actors. For this, please be aware that you can subscribe to our newsletter here. Should you instead prefer to reach out to us for any questions or requests, please contact us via the Year’s official email address: EMPL-EY-2023-SKILLS@ec.europa.eu.

We hope your organisation will want to get involved in boosting skills across Europe!
